Principales líneas de Investigación

Su objetivo es la caracterización de la fisiopatología y el desarrollo de métodos para el diagnóstico y tratamiento del daño cerebral de origen prenatal, utilizando de forma preferente el retraso de crecimiento fetal (CIR) como modelo. Se evalúan los cambios en el parénquima cerebral fetal a través de análisis de imagen (ecografía, fracción sanguínea en movimiento y RNM-DTI), correlación con nuevos marcadores de función miocárdica fetal y con marcadores bioquímicos y genómicos de isquemia e hiperactivación inmunitaria/endotelial, y la correlación con el desarrollo neurológico y cardiovascular evaluado a través de función y neuroestructura hasta los 6 años. Se cuenta con un modelo animal de hipoxia fetal para el estudio de la activación endotelial cerebral en la génesis de daño neurológico y la potencial interferencia mediante el bloqueo de activación inmunitaria.
