PREDOCTORAL POSITION IN CARDIOVASCULAR DYSFUNCTION OF FETAL ORIGIN
The Fetal Medicine and Perinatal Research Group at l'Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and Clinic Hospital in Barcelona, seeks for a highly motivated predoctoral student. The position involves working with a trans-disciplinary team of scientists studying the pathophysiological basis underlying the cardiovascular dysfunction of fetal origin.
Previous studies performed by our group in neonates and children who suffered growth restriction and chronic hypoxia in utero have demonstrated that there is a significant increase in the predisposition of cardiovascular disease in adult life (Crispi et al., Circulation, 2010). These differences might be explained by in utero processes of cardiovascular remodelling.
The position involves working with an animal model of FGR, recently developed by our group in the pregnant rabbit (Eixarch et al., Fetal Diagn Ther. 2009), which reproduces the growth disturbances and hemodynamic changes observed in human fetuses.
Profile:
Candidates from any nationality with Bachelor degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy or similar and an average mark above 2 are invited to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master in Biomedicine or similar, a good level of English and previous experience in research.
To apply, please submit the following documentation:
1. Curriculum Vitae
2. Brief cover letter indicating his/her interest in the area and training
